Benefits of using Drift-Awareness in the Southern Hemisphere

This is an example of how Drift-Awareness allows us to accurately capture features in the sea ice cover in the Ross Sea. The Sentinel-1 backscatter (grey-scale image) indicates an isolated area of multiyear ice, coinciding with thick ice (magenta) in the drift-aware product.
